The contracts were signed in Istanbul on 18 June, making Turkish trade fair organiser Survey Fuarcılık Danışmanlık Ltd. ŞTİ. a subsidiary of German firm Clarion Survey GmbH. The deal secures the long-term future of the successful B2B events ZOW (furniture and interior design), Z-TEC (woodworking and furniture production machinery) and new industry event BUILdIST in Istanbul.

As soon as one event is over, it’s time to start preparing for next year’s. After an outstanding ZOW 2010 – one of the most successful in the trade fair’s history with 663 exhibitors and 19 000 visitors – the planning phase for next year’s fair is well underway. Now that the signs of economic recovery in Germany are clear to see, organiser Clarion Survey anticipates at least the same exhibitor and visitor numbers for 2011. ZOW, which will return from 14 - 17 February 2011, takes place at the heart of Europe’s leading furniture industry cluster. The arrival of British organiser Clarion Events gives the trade fair, a key opportunity for the furniture industry to win orders, added impetus for its future development.

Following the second-largest ZOW in the trade fair’s history in February 2010, which saw a considerable increase in the number of FKM-certified visitors and enjoyed an extremely positive atmosphere among exhibitors, Bielefeld-based organiser Survey GmbH & Co. KG, has announced a commercial partnership with a leading exhibition organiser. The British company Clarion Events Ltd., which is based in London, is taking over the three German trade fairs organised by Survey – Focus Küche & Bad, FMB Zuliefermesse Maschinenbau and the most important annual ZOW supplier fair for the furniture industry and interior design – with immediate effect. This step secures and builds on the success of both the ZOW trade fair, which has taken place each year in the furniture hub of Westfalen-Lippe since 1995, and other business events in the long term.

ZOW 2010 brings together the Industry in East Westphalia
Despite the cold weather, snow and ice, the ZOW supplier fair for the furniture industry and interior design, which took place in Bad Salzuflen between 8 and 11 February 2010, was extremely well attended. 663 exhibitors from 35 countries attracted a considerably higher number of trade visitors to East Westphalia during the four days than in 2009. The number of admissions, which came to around 19,000, was higher than for a number of previous ZOW events. In addition, a further 11,500 visits, most of which occurred on the third and fourth day of the fair, were made by exhibitor teams visiting their suppliers.

ZOW Shenzhen from 19 to 22 March 2010
The global economy is picking up again and China is leading the way. The OECD is forecasting that the country will see a growth in GDP of 10.2% in 2010. It is in this environment that the Shenzhen Convention & Expo Center will host its second ZOW supplier fair for the furniture industry and interior design between 19 and 22 March 2010. Around 100 Chinese and international supplier companies will gather in Shenzhen to showcase their latest innovations in surfaces and fittings, elements and systems, semi-finished products and materials, furniture fabrics and upholstery materials. More than 12 000 trade visitors are expected to attend the show.

Success across the board
In the wake of ZOW Russia 2009, organiser Survey Marketing + Consulting (Bielefeld/ Germany) recorded an extremely positive development – the trade fair attracted around 14 300 visitors from the furniture industry and interior design between 23 and 27 November. Around 130 ZOW exhibitors showcased their products in Hall 7 of the Expocentr in Moscow in parallel to Mebel. ZOW has therefore secured its position as a key supplier fair for the Russian furniture sector.

It’s the second opportunity this year for suppliers in the seating and upholstery industry to showcase their latest products at Furnifab, the Furniture Fabric and Accessories Show. Organiser Survey Marketing + Consulting Sp. z o.o. (Poznań) opted at short notice to bring the event forward from spring to autumn in response to the rescheduling of Furniture Poland. ZOW in Shenzhen from 19 to 22 March 2010
Between 19 and 22 March 2010, the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Centre will play host to its second ZOW supplier fair for furniture industry and interior Design. ZOW in Shenzhen, organised by SURVEY Asia, will again run at the same time as the Shenzhen International Furniture Exhibition (SIFE), which attracts more than 60 000 visitors to the economic hub on the Pearl River delta each year. The third week in March is the “busy” part of the South Chinese trade fair season, as several furniture trade fairs take place at this time in the province of Guangdong. So ZOW’s timing couldn’t be any better.
ZOW in Verona 2009: a high-quality international Event - Innovation and Design in the Furniture Components and Accessories Industries
Interesting business contacts and many issues of great relevance characterized the ninth edition of ZOW Italy – International Exhibition of Components and Accessories for the Furniture Industry and Interior Design, held in Verona from 21 to 24 October. The final statistics on the fourth day of the event showed 9,352 trade visitors (corresponding to approx. 12,000 entries), including as much as 2,783 foreign visitors from 81 different countries. One of the main highpoints of the ninth Focus Küche & Bad show in Hiddenhausen was the buzz amongst exhibitors and visitors. Even during difficult economic times, the trade platform has once again proven itself to be the biggest magnet for visitors during the autumn trade fair calendar in eastern Westphalia. 11 150 visitors were able to visit the stands of 89 exhibitors, covering a floor space of 11 000 m2, at the Hiddenhausen exhibition centre.

More than 19 000 visitors flock to Istanbul
Masses visit Istanbul Expo Center: ZOW and Z-TEC attracted more than 19 000 visitors to the city on the Bosporus, making the two trade fairs THE top event for the international furniture sector. This was the second time the ZOW supplier fair for the furniture industry and interior design had been held at this location and the premiere for the Z-TEC specialist event for woodworking and furniture production machinery and both went down extremely well. The lion’s share of visitors were Turkish but numerous visitors from Europe, the area around the Black Sea and the Middle East also used the events to find out more about the latest new products.

The jury is in on the M TECHNOLOGY AWARD 2009:
“This competition reflects the incredible spirit of innovation in this industry – for intelligent, highly detailed solutions as well as for new types of material,” is what the jury had to say about this year’s competition. The judges on the jury selected 20 prizewinners from the total 60 entries in the M TECHNOLOGY AWARD 2009. Of those, two received a GOLD and four went home with a SILVER Award for outstanding achievement in innovation. The Awards Ceremony will be held on the opening day of ZOW Italy in Verona (Italy) on October 21, 2009 in the Veronafiere Tradeshow Center for the first time.

The Furnifab – Furniture and Accessories Show is the special supply fair for the seating and upholstery furniture industry in Central and Eastern Europe. After a new date had been set for the “Furniture Poland” fair in Poznań, rescheduling the next edition of Furnifab Poznań seemed inevitable: instead of March 2010 it will take place earlier from 17–19 November 2009. In fact this new situation is quite favourable for FurniFab.

In 2009 ZOW will return to Moscow for the third time and again run in the Expocentr at the same time as Mebel. Between 23 and 27 November around 150 exhibitors from Russia and abroad will present their best new products for surfaces and fittings, elements and systems, semi-finished products and materials. In November 2008 more than 12 500 visitors from the furniture and interiors industry were impressed by the innovative approach of this unique supplier show which is setting trends on the Russian market with its workshop concept. A similarly large number of visitors is expected in 2009.

The sales situation is looking very promising indeed, with over 200 exhibitors having already registered for the second ZOW in Istanbul from 1 - 4 October 2009. They include major Turkish supplier companies such as Kastamonu Entegre, Yildiz Sunta MDF, Starwood, AGT, Roma Plastik, Samet and Cebi Kilit. At the Istanbul Expo Center, they will be presenting new products for surfaces and fittings, semi-finished products, elements and systems, materials and interior design. Furnitex, which will take place at the same time as ZOW, will also be presenting furniture fabrics, leather, microfibre materials and upholstery accessories.
ZOW Zaragoza postponed until May 2010
No other market in Europe has been hit quite as badly by the economic crisis as Spain, where the global financial crisis is further intensified by the consequences of the bubble bursting in the construction industry. As a construction-related sector, the furniture and interiors industry is among those feeling the impact. In view of this, Survey Marketing & Consulting S.L. (Madrid/Barcelona) has decided to cancel this year’s ZOW in Zaragoza at the last minute. The reason given for the decision to cancel the 2009 event was that the organiser considers itself to carry a responsibility as regards both the exhibitors’ costs and the visitors’ expenditure in the current economic climate. “A weak exhibition is the most expensive type of exhibition – so it’s better to call it off during a recession,” explains Miguel Angel Bonilla, Managing Director of Survey in Spain. “We finally reached this decision after some intense discussions with Spanish market players in the last few days. Nobody is expecting the market to recover before the second half of 2010.”

Shenzhen is the booming city in Southern China. The launch of the ZOW supplier fair for the furniture industry and interior design took place here from 19 to 22 March 2009 – at the same time as the SIFE Shenzhen Furniture Trade Exhibition. With 8000 trade visitors and around 40 exhibiting companies, the first ZOW got off to a good start. The visitors used the opportunity to find out about the current design trends in the supplier industry and to get to know ZOW. The event was characterised by high spirits, successful business and a pleasant atmosphere, laying the foundation for further positive development of the trade fair.

ZOW with Furnitex and Z-TEC from 1 to 4 October
In January 2008, the ZOW supplier fair for the furniture industry and interior design got off to an excellent start at the Istanbul Expo Center (Yesilköy) with 180 exhibitors and 14 000 visitors. The world famous ZOW trade fair concept was completely new to the Turkish market and went down very well. From 1 to 4 October 2009 the second ZOW in Istanbul will take place at the same venue. This year it will run in conjunction with the Furnitex supplier fair for the seating and upholstered furniture industry and a new machine trade fair, Z-TEC, which is organised by ZOW organiser Survey in cooperation with Deutsche Messe AG (Hanover).

ZOW 2009: Positive signals for the sector

ZOW, Trade Fair East-Westphalia , which ran from 9 to 12 February 2009, gave out lots of positive signals for the sector with its useful business contacts and plenty of interesting topics for the future. Featuring 619 supplier companies, the number of exhibitors was lower this year than in 2008, but this did not impair the quality of the trade fair. 15 200 visitors, around two thirds of whom came from German-speaking countries, came to Bad Salzuflen and once again made ZOW a business event and meeting place for the North and Central European market.

facing declining OEM business with furniture manufacturers as
individuals are cutting back on purchases. In concrete terms, this
means declines in sales in single and double figure percentages,
compounded by an increasing risk resulting from the critical credit
rating of individual customers. Commercial credit insurers are handing
out fewer credit notes and warnings from credit agencies are putting a
strain on people’s willingness to supply products if there is a long
payment period. The risk of non-payment due to bankruptcy is on the
rise and the resultant cautiousness is not beneficial to an all-round
positive business development. In this vicious circle, cost increases
are putting pressure on the market, which is making the situation even
worse.
At Haus Aussel: Where ZOW began
It all started with four supplier companies
It all started with the four supplier companies Berg, Döllken, Egger and Westag & Getalit. They put on a presentation about themselves and their product highlights at the Haus Aussel design workshop in the East Westphalian town Rheda-Wiedenbrück which was at that time the platform on the regional supplier industry showcased new ideas. It was as a result of the focus weeks, which were the first of their kind to focus on visitors from the furniture industry and interior design, that the industry came up with the idea of organising a trade fair just for the supplier industry of East Westphalia. A name for it was quickly found: there was a MOW in Bad Salzuflen, so the new trade fair was to be called ZOW.

Supplier trade fair attracted 12 800 visitors to Expocenter
Success across the board. This year's ZOW in Moscow, which for the second time was held in parallel to Mebel at the Expocenter, featured 160 exhibitors, including a large number of Russian suppliers, and attracted around 12 800 visitors. This a 60 % increase on the previous year. Customers from the furniture industry and interior design took the opportunity to find out about the latest new fittings, surfaces, materials and semi-finished products from suppliers at the same time as attending the Russian furniture fair - the fast way to give visitors what they want. Most of the visitors to ZOW came from Russia and the former CIS States, but there were plenty of international guests in Moscow too.

ZOW Pordenone: an event even more international Innovation and design in the furniture components and accessories industry, contrasting the trend of the market crisis
The eighth ZOW exhibition at Pordenone – International Exhibition for components and accessories for the Furniture Industry – has closed this year attendance figures at the fair numbered around 20,000. Is it particularly interesting to note once again, that there is still an exceptionally high rate of international attendance at the fair, which was attended by no fewer than 8,200 visits from abroad: they made up 42% of overall entrances, an increase of 10% over the number of foreign visits to last year’s exhibition. And the number of foreign countries represented at the fair increased as well: 96 this year, up from the 92 registered last year. Yet again, ZOW Pordenone has proved that it leads in exhibitions with high rates of international growth in Italy—an amazing achievement considering that ZOW began its history as a highly regional trade fair, and very much aimed at Italian industry.

Uncertain future for first generation European biofuel industry: European Biofuels Industry at fortnight of shake out?
Wednesday, 30 April 2008. The third international Biofuels SUMMIT and EXPO, held last week in Madrid, Spain, concluded with a rather pessimistic scenario for first generation Biofuels producers in Europe. Not so much because of the perverse and absurd manipulation of media, which seem to be easy victims in the hands of some interested parties who want consumers to believe the complete nonsense that Biofuels are now the worst of all evils, but because of the fact that this young industry does not seem able to set up an organised defence of their own interests and thus is doomed to disappear in the turbulences of the moment. Fact is that almost none of the existing Biofuels producers did show up at the Conference, letting the floor thus to the second generation of producers of Biofuels, which are the leading (renewable) energy suppliers and some of their closest allies. The good news about this apparent squeeze out is that Biofuels are here to stay.

Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov: "There will be 30 new bioethanol plants in Russia"
30 new plants producing biofuel are going to be set up in Russia. As Viktor Zubkov, Russian Prime Minister, reported Wednesday at an international conference on forestry complex development, the existing plants for the production of ethanol will be reconstructed and 30 new ones are going to be built. The head of the government also added that this year the government is planning to adopt a program on the development of biofuel production which presupposes the rise in ethanol production up to 2 mln tons a year. "We are going to devote much effort to this area,” the head of the government said, reminding that the Cabinet had already adopted a program on the development of biofuel production. There are also plans to build about 30 new plants for biofuel production in Russia. The reconstruction of the old ones is also on the agenda, Prime Minister said.

Uruguay: Biodiesel could be cheaper than
The Copagraan biodiesel plant, which started operations in Ombués de Lavalle last week, would market biodiesel at 25 to 26 Uruguayan pesos per litre, a price which would be placing biofuel below the price line of diesel fuel. This was stated by José María Nin, the company’s President, who declared that the refinery’s goal was that of placing biodiesel “at a price sensibly lower than that of diesel fuel, which sells at $29.60 per litre at present.”

Six months before ZOW 2008 gets under way, the show which will be held next year on February 25th - 28th is virtually sold out. More than 85% of the space in Halls 19-23 at the Bad Salzuflen Exhibition Center has now been booked. Hall 19 featuring “Functional Fittings” was already fully booked in the summer. We have a similar situation in Halls 22 and 23, which are traditionally popular with décor printers and companies supplying finishes.

The European Summit on Sustainable Bio fuels has closed its first gathering in Madrid, Spain, with 350 professional attendees from 20 countries participating in 34 presentations. ZOW Moscow, which was originally to be held in April, has been put back to November 23-26, 2006. The furniture supply trade fair for the Russian furniture industry is therefore being staged for the first time in parallel with the most important Russian furniture trade fair, Mebel (November 21-25, 2006). ZOW is again being staged this year in Pavilion 57 of the All-Russian Exhibition Centre (VCC) in Moscow. In 2007, the event will move to an exhibition hall at the VVC which will be newly-built for then.

Record Number of Exhibitors at 12th ZOW in Bad Salzuflen
ZOW has had a makeover. After a mere five and a half months of construction work, suppliers to the furniture industry were delighted to present their product innovations for the first time at the extended and modernized exhibition center in Bad Salzuflen from February 20 to 23. More than 700 exhibitors from 39 different countries and about 16,000 international trade visitors made this - the biggest get-together so far for the furniture supply industry in East Westphalia - another successful event.
Traffic Congestion during ZOW 2oo6
Regrettably we were faced with exceptional traffic congestion on the second day of this year's ZOW show. We would like to apologize for this unpleasant situation even though the problems in question were in no way the responsibility of SURVEY, the event's organizer. In spite of further improvements to the infrastructure around the fairgrounds it was impossible to prevent the trouble from arising.

The furniture supply trade fair for the Russian furniture industry is therefore being staged for the first time in parallel with the most important Russian furniture trade fair, Mebel (November 21-25, 2006). ZOW is again being staged this year in Pavilion 57 of the All-Russian Exhibition Centre (VCC) in Moscow. In 2007, the event will move to an exhibition hall at the VVC which will be newly-built for then.
ZOW in Bad Salzuflen: Meeting Point for Trendsetters
Clear the stage for innovations from furniture suppliers! In the extended Bad Salzuflen Exhibition Center, around 700 German and international suppliers will display their latest developments at the ZOW Zuliefermesse Ost-Westfalen (Furniture Components Trade Fair) - for the furniture industry and interior design sector from February 20th - 23rd, 2006. More than 14,000 trade visitors are expected to attend this year's meeting point for trendsetters.
Fairground Expansion:
Construction work at the Bad Salzuflen fairgrounds is proceeding on
schedule. In parallel with the progress that the workers are making on
the new Halls 22/23, planning for ZOW 2006 is also well under way. The
East-Westphalian Fair for Suppliers to the Furniture and Interior
Fitting Industry, which will be held on February 20th - 23rd, will be
the first large-scale event to benefit from the infrastructure
improvements at the B239 highway. Organizer Survey Marketing +
Consulting (Bielefeld) is taking advantage of the expansion and
modernization project at the site to upgrade its ZOW show concept. A
reorganization of the layout will make things easier for exhibitors and
visitors, especially on peak days.
Focus Küche & Bad 2005 expanded:
For its fifth staging, Focus Küche & Bad is launching with record bookings: 74 exhibitors from within Germany and abroad, presenting their latest developments for the first time at two venues. In addition to the sell-out at the Enger Exhibition Center, where 57 companies are exhibiting, the organizers Survey Marketing + Consulting (Bielefeld) are for the first time able to promote a supplementary exhibition space covering 1,500 m² in Hall 19 of the new parallel venue in Bad Salzuflen. Here 17 international exhibitors with attractive ideas will be demonstrating their products and expertise. 12,000 trade visitors are expected to attend when the expanded sector showcase opens its doors from September 17-23.
The Poznan International Exhibition Centre proves to be the ideal location for FurniFab
The FurniFab Furniture Fabric Show Poznan is a main suppliers’ show for Europe’s seating and upholstery industry. After the first two events had been held in Komorniki on the edge of the city, this year’s show was held for the first time at the Poznań International Exhibition Centre. The showground in the centre of Poznan provides the best conditions and logistical facilities for both exhibitors and visitors, who can take advantage of the excellent communication network. Peter H. Meyer, head of the organising company, SURVEY, speaking after the close of the show, was eager to stress the impressive cooperation received from the Poznań Show management – a good indicator for exhibitions in future years. As a result, FurniFab will be held again in Hall 6A at the International Exhibition Centre.
ZOW in Moscow on the road to success
With 160 exhibitors compared with 150 last year, and 4,500 visitors compared with 3,750, the second edition of ZOW in Moscow, which took place from 18th to 21st April, has certainly built upon the success of the 2004 inaugural event. The 6000m2 of space in Hall 57 of the All Russia Exhibition Centre was completely taken up - not least by exhibitors at the 2004 event who had re-booked taking more space for 2005. Exhibitors were widely impressed by the high quality of the contacts generated, and in some cases were able to take first orders actually at the show. Perhaps not surprisingly, almost 90% of visitors were from Russia itself, with the remainder essentially from previous Soviet states, particularly White Russia and the Ukraine. Wider foreign attention was focused on Germany.
Healthy business at FurniFab
FurniFab - Furniture Fabric Show took place earlier this month with a high level of success. From 8th to 10th March, Hall 6A at the Poznan International Exhibition Centre was devoted to all the latest introductions in materials for the European seating and upholstery industry. After two previous editions in Komorniki, the 2005 event moved and was the first to be located in the centre of Poznan. "This was clearly the right move," said Peter Meyer, head of the organising company SURVEY Marketing + Consulting.
14,000 visitors at the 11th ZOW in Bad Salzuflen
One year after its tenth birthday in 2004, ZOW in Bad Salzuflen has now drawn to a successful conclusion: 566 exhibitors and 14,000 visitors marked the start of a new decade for the east Westphalian supplier trade fair from 21 to 24 February. With signs of an economic recovery in the furniture industry, the atmosphere in the three halls of the exhibition center on the B 239 was predominantly positive, especially as many exhibitors had already signaled an upturn in the business climate before ZOW.
ZOW 2oo5 in Bad Salzuflen gets underway with record participation
The attraction of ZOW - the furniture suppliers' show - is still undiminished after 11 years. A total of 566 exhibiting companies will again endorse the effectiveness of this b2b event from 21st to 24th February at the exhibition centre in Bad Salzuflen, where a host of new products, materials and systems will form the centre point. Both exhibitors and visitors use the special communications climate of ZOW as a welcome starter to their dealings. Now that the economy is moving in the right direction again after so many difficult years, confidence is high among this year's ZOW participants.
ZOW in Moscow: A Design Show for Russia
The second edition of ZOW in Moscow, the suppliers' exhibition for the Russian furniture industry, will take place from 18th to 21st April 2005 in Pavilion 57 of the All Russia Exhibition Ground (VVC). Following the debut event in 2004, which attracted 150 exhibitors and 3500 trade visitors, the organisers, SURVEY Marketing + Consulting and RESTEC Exhibition Company confidently expect an increase of these figures about more than the half.
FurniFab moves to the International Fairground
in Poznan from 8th to 10th March 2005
FurniFab, the Furniture Fabric Show in Poland, is moving from its previous location in the Top-Shopping-Center in Komorniki, to the Poznan International Fairground in the city centre.
